On Sunday, June 28, 2026, A Mindful Resource Inc. hosted the first gathering of The Village Table — a networking brunch created for Black male mental health professionals and the allies who stand beside them.
The premise was simple and, in this field, surprisingly rare: bring the brothers doing this work into one room, over a shared meal, with no crisis to manage and nothing to prove — just connection. The Village Table exists because the people who care for our communities deserve a community of their own. When practitioners, advocates, and leaders are connected, resourced, and seen, the people they serve are the ones who benefit. This is what Care Before Crisis looks like applied to the helpers themselves.
“We weren't building a room full of business cards and small talk. We were setting a table — and a table is where people stay long enough to actually build something.”
We set one clear, measurable intention for the day: every person leaves the table with at least one of these three. Not a vague “good time” — a concrete next step in the work.
A shared project, group, or idea worth building together — two practitioners deciding to make something new.
A standing relationship between practitioners or organizations that outlasts the brunch and turns into ongoing work.
A trusted name to send someone to — so a brother seeking help reaches the right person and no one falls through the cracks.
Three doors into the same outcome: a stronger, better-connected web of care for Black men across DFW. Every element of the afternoon was designed to move guests through at least one of those doors before they left.
The measure of a good table isn't who shows up — it's what happens after everyone goes home.
From a first handshake to a signed-up member in a single afternoon — that is the clearest proof the model works. When nearly half the room commits the same day, it tells you the demand was already there, waiting for a door. Those new members are now part of a growing professional network for Black men's mental health in DFW.
Hosted in a Dallas art loft surrounded by work celebrating Black life, the brunch moved from welcome and remarks into open networking — with an invitation to do more than attend.
Every guest was invited to join the directory, share their practice, and help shape The Village — turning a one-day brunch into the start of a year-round network.
The Village Table is one expression of a bigger commitment: A Mindful Resource Inc. is building a movement and an ecosystem — not just a nonprofit.
The Village connects the professionals. That network, in turn, strengthens the community-facing programs that meet people where they are — long before a crisis. Each program is a different on-ramp to the same prevention-first promise:
Figures above reflect A Mindful Resource Inc.'s cumulative organizational impact since founding (2023), not a single event. The Village Table strengthens the professional network that helps drive these outcomes.
A connected practitioner is a force multiplier. When the brothers in this room collaborate, partner, and refer, every community program reaches further — and more men find care before they reach a breaking point. That is the return on a well-set table.
The Village Table was the first seat at a much longer table. Twelve professionals joined in the first 24 hours — and The Village is now a year-round network with a member directory, shared resources, and a 12-month gathering cadence for the people building Black men's mental health in DFW.
